As a member of Cleveland Lead Advocates for Safe Housing (CLASH), I support Robert Murray and Marianne Smith Edge (' Now is not the time to cut WIC benefits for Ohio mothers and children ') in their call for full funding for the WIC program, especially at this time of cuts to the SNAP (food stamp) program and the persistence of mortality in Cuyahoga County. But there's an additional issue, specific to Cuyahoga County. that needs our community's attention. In Cuyahoga County, the WIC program does not test participating mothers and children for high lead levels in their blood.
